Stunning collection of short stories. Anything I write can’t do justice to the joy and majesty contained inside the covers of this book.
If you need a reason to try Infinite Jest (and I would submit that you don’t, you should just go ahead and read it) then this might be a more approachable proposition. Although that’s not to say it’s easier (except in terms of being able to hold it in one hand) because it gets dark in places, and there are examples of that densely layered prose that can be difficult to parse, but there just isn’t any better writing out there.
There is no see also, apart from other David Foster Wallace stuff, which you should go out and find now.
